The President's Office today congratulated Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado on being awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. On Wednesday, the activist's daughter, Ana Corina Sosa, received the award in Oslo, the capital of Norway, at a ceremony she arrived late for. The award ceremony was attended by President Javier Milei along with his counterparts: Daniel Noboa of Ecuador, Santiago Peña of Paraguay, and José Raúl Mulino of Panama. 'Ms. Machado is the most renowned Venezuelan activist and politician in the world for her tireless struggle in defense of democracy, human rights, and individual liberties in her homeland,' the statement from the President's Office, accessed by the Argentine News Agency (NA), highlighted. For the national government, 'this award is a well-deserved recognition of her work and helps to amplify the voice of the Venezuelan people, which has suffered the atrocities of a socialist regime that has lost all legitimacy and seeks to retain power by force, ignoring the will expressed at the polls when Venezuelans elected Edmundo González Urrutia last July.' They also emphasized that Milei 'works tirelessly, alongside Venezuelan and world leaders, so that democracy, the republican system, the rule of law, freedom, and individual rights return to Venezuela.'
